Overview

DoAram is a social impact platform designed to connect corporates, NGOs, and individuals with verified causes while bringing structure, transparency, and accountability to CSR and volunteering workflows.

The platform operates at the intersection of multiple stakeholders, each with different permissions, responsibilities, and expectations. Our role was to design a system that could support these complexities without compromising usability, trust, or scalability.

The Challenge

Corporates require governance, reporting, and distance-based participation. NGOs need operational flexibility to manage causes and events. Individuals seek clarity on how to contribute without friction. Meanwhile, the platform itself must ensure trust through verification and moderation.

The core challenge was to design:

  • A role-based access system that balances control and delegation

  • A location-aware discovery experience without relying on GPS in early stages

  • A workflow that supports verification, volunteering, events, and donations

  • A product that feels simple on the surface while managing complex operations underneath

Process

We began by mapping the ecosystem.
Each user group was broken down by intent, authority, and operational responsibility:

  • Corporates (CSR leads, operations teams, employees)

  • NGOs (leads, operations, NGO-assigned managers)

  • Individuals

  • DoAram’s internal verification and operations teams

This helped define clear boundaries between strategy, execution, and participation.

Early Sketching

Early sketches focused on structure.

  • Role-based dashboards to reduce cognitive load

  • Separation of user profile and organisation profile

  • Clear entry points for causes, events, and volunteering

  • Simple flows for NGOs to assign management roles without exposing full admin access

Low-fidelity sketches helped validate:

  • Sidebar hierarchy and navigation logic

  • Where verification checkpoints should live

  • How notifications and approvals surface without interrupting core flows

Design

The final design system prioritised clarity and restraint.

  • Clean, neutral layouts to keep focus on causes, not UI

  • A darker shade of yellow introduced for improved contrast and accessibility

Special care was taken to ensure that:

  • NGOs could delegate execution without losing control

  • Corporates could engage without operational complexity

  • Individuals were guided clearly through different contribution paths

Outcome

DoAram emerged as a structured, role-driven impact platform built for real-world complexity.

The system:

  • Enables scalable CSR participation for corporates

  • Gives NGOs operational flexibility with accountability

  • Simplifies volunteering and donations for individuals

  • Maintains platform-wide trust through verification and governance

Most importantly, the product establishes a foundation that can grow supporting advanced features like expense management, and deeper analytics in future phases without reworking the core system.
